Making art is like living the life of a nomad, travelling from place to place. To see the world and to show your ‘world’ to the world. Always collecting and carrying around information, ideas, materials, objects. These are the stones to pave a way into time. This blog is my homestead, a resting place, to overcome, to experience, to see a way through. The ideas, artworks and exhibitions of Artist Eleanor Kathleen Grootoonk.
Research and film project in collaborating with composer Matthijs Herder. Which includes a working period above the Arctic Circle (Lapland) to research the misconceptions of the northern lights. And to work on location on a 4K resolution film with HDR techniques to be able to make the film "Lights in the North". The end results of this journey will be presented in a solo exhibition at the Hanze University Groningen, in the Netherlands. The opening will be the 16th of January 2012 at 16:00, Oude Natuur Museum
Praediniussingel 59, Groningen, 16 January / 27 January. After this exhibition, the film and research will be made available to a wider audience. For more info and progress, scroll down. This project is made possible through the George Verberg Stipend.

LOGLINE: At the end of the world, there lives an entity that lights a candle for every passing soul. The souls display their gratitude by lighting up the skies in the north. An alchemist captures the lights and tries to distill the life elixer from them.
